Mobile Onsite Data Destruction
For every wall you build around your data, whether physical or digital, hackers are continually coming up with new and inventive ways to breach that protection. An increasingly common problem, breaches leave both your customers and your company vulnerable, and damage your brand. When they make the news, overall consumer confidence tends to decline. Customers want to know that you are taking every step possible to keep their information secure – even after the equipment used to manage and store it has outlived its usefulness. Given the risks associated with transporting data-bearing assets, some companies are choosing onsite data destruction.
Meet the MODD Squad
GCI offers complete onsite ITAD services, with the same care and attention to security and environmental sustainability, brought to your door. Our mobile units are equipped with industry-leading technology, ensuring that the erasure process not only meets regulatory standards, but also provides you with an extra layer of assurance that reduces your company’s risk. Our team of knowledgeable ITAD specialists are experts in data compliance, including:
- NIST SP 800-88
- HIPAA
- HiTech
- PCI
- Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act
Onsite services provide both convenience and additional risk-reduction without sacrificing any of the quality and integrity for which GCI is known.
Inventory Validation
Prior to data destruction, GCI scans and records all serial numbers of the storage devices involved, and checks them against the inventory list provided by the client. This audit ensures project accuracy, and provides an important trail for final inventory reconciliation. It also facilitates efficient issuance of Certificates of Destruction.
Onsite Data Destruction Services
Data Erasure
For the value- and sustainability-minded, data erasure rather than destroying hard drives allows that equipment to be reused internally, or recycled and re-purposed. Erasure also reduces the risks and potential costs associated with returning leased equipment. GCI applies the most current sanitization methods available, and all data erasure is done in strict accordance with NIST SP 800-88 standards.
Degaussing
Degaussing is a quick, easy process that employs powerful electromagnetic fields to render data unrecoverable. This technique is used only for loose magnetic hard drives and backup tapes, as it will not destroy data on solid state hard drives.
Crushing
Crushing works best for small-scale data destruction, which is accomplished via applying immense pressure to the device, warping it in such a way as to render the stored data inaccessible.
Certified Recycler
Transportation is one of the riskiest phases of ITAD,
presenting the greatest window of opportunity for loss. Following onsite
disposition services, GCI adheres to rigorous chain of custody protocols to
ensure the protection of your assets. The destroyed materials are transported
to a facility for recycling in accordance with strict security and
environmental guidelines before being returned to GCI. With GCI, you can be sure that you are working with a certified industry leader in the responsible disposition of electronic assets, protecting your data, your brand, and the environment.
